A Historic Estate Revitalized

Once owned by the esteemed nobleman Sulkhan Chavchadaze in the 1800s, Vazisubani Estate has a rich history in winemaking. Chavchadaze was a key figure in the cultural and educational growth of the Kakheti region, and his legacy continues through this estate, founded in 1891. After years of neglect, the estate underwent a remarkable transformation in 2013, becoming a celebrated destination that honors its historical roots, winemaking traditions, exceptional cuisine, and warm hospitality. The vineyards were replanted, and the historic wine cellar was meticulously restored.

The Vineyards of Vazisubani Estate

Situated in the renowned Kakheti terroir, the estate is home to indigenous Georgian grape varieties, including the robust Saperavi and aromatic whites like Rkatsiteli, Kisi, Khikhvi, and Kakhuri Mtsvane. Under the expert guidance of Head Winemaker Lado Uzunashvili, Vazisubani Estate produces exceptional Qvevri wines. Each harvest reflects the estate's deep-rooted wine culture, celebrating Georgia's long-standing passion for winemaking.

Qvevri Winemaking Tradition

At Vazisubani Estate, all wines are crafted from native grapes fermented in Qvevris, traditional terracotta vessels with an 8,000-year history. These large vessels are buried in the ground, allowing for natural fermentation and aging on skins and lees until spring. The estate employs time-honored practices in every aspect of winemaking, from soil care and vine management to harvesting and bottling. This dedication, combined with the estate's 140-year-old cellars, results in wines that impress even the most discerning connoisseurs.

Recomendation if you are going to Book this hotel: Better to book it without using Booking com, they offer way cheaper rates. Wine is an amazing, you have to try Lobiani (vegetarian )and Crunchy piglet (non vegetarian). Service is excellent, staff is so friendly. Unfortunately we booked just one night and when we entered in the hotel we immediately regretted our decision. Perfect place if you want to relax and meditate.
