Giuaani Winery, in the Heart of the Kakheti Region
Giuaani Winery is located in the historic Manavi village, the heart of wine production in the region of Kakheti. The winery was set up with the best technology, modern equipment, and traditional clay Qvevri to produce wines. The name ‘Giuanni’ comes from the Giuaant district as the people from that area lived near the Manavi Castle and made wine. The history of the estate began in 1894, and the winery was established in 2014. The team focuses on producing 400,000 bottles of wine every year. Their winery is around 45 minutes away from Tbilisi and is perfect for people interested in Georgian winemaking culture.
The Use of Traditional Georgian Grape Varietals
Their exquisite wines are made using indigenous Georgian grapes variety with distinct flavors and aromas. The return to local wine production using native grapes is a sense of pride for the winery and the region. The main varieties of grapes grown include Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Kisi, Khikhvi, and Cabernet Sauvignon. These traditional grapes are handpicked and further processed to make their distinct red, white, rosé, and Qvevri (orange) wines.
Visit the Beautiful Garden and the Onsight Restaurant
The wines in their cellar are made using both traditional Georgian methods in Qvevri and the European winemaking methods of oak barrels aging. Their restaurant chef makes excellent local dishes for guests, and relax in their beautiful garden that also boasts a swimming pool.
Giuaani Winery has received multiple national and international awards for its famous wines.
