Meyerhof Winery began its commitment to organic farming in 2017, completing the transition for the 2020 vintage. Spanning twelve hectares, the winery features exceptional vineyard sites such as "La Roche," "Geisterberg," and "Rotenpfad." The focus on organic practices enhances the unique characteristics of each vineyard layer, resulting in healthy, fully ripened grapes cultivated with care and manual labor.

Climate at Meyerhof Winery

The geological history of the Rheinhessen region, marked by ancient rock formations and fossils, contributes to its unique climate. This area, characterized by cold temperatures, is ideal for producing mineral-rich and crisp wines. The diverse soil types, particularly the Rotliegend, impart a distinct minerality and spiciness to the wines. The rocky, quartz-rich soil allows vines to absorb and retain water effectively, leading to full-bodied, fruity, and mineral-driven wines.

Terroir of Meyerhof Winery

The winery's standout vineyard is a 40-year-old Riesling plot located on a southern slope, where calcareous siltstone, claystone, and sandstone from 280 million years ago create a rich soil profile. Ghost Mountain, another vineyard site, features sandstone typical of Flonheim, shaped during the Rotliegend period. The unique red path vineyard is distinguished by its volcanic rock, specifically basalt, formed from ancient lava flows. This diverse terroir allows for exceptional water retention, resulting in wines that are both fruity and mineral-laden.

We had a wonderful wine experience weekend. The winemaker family is very friendly and the wine tasting was very professional. On Saturday we were able to enjoy the hike through the vineyards with a lovingly packed backpack of provisions. The guest house is lovingly furnished and the breakfast was very good. Thanks so much

We booked a wine adventure weekend at the Meyerhof. The arrangement included a wine tasting with 8 wines, a factory tour and a tarte flambée evening. The next day we were given a filled picnic backpack and were able to explore the area on our own. We had a wonderful weekend with lots of fun, wine, delicious food and great hosts. The Engel and Hammer families and their employees are very accommodating. No wish remains unfulfilled. The rooms are very modern, we didn't miss anything! A great price-performance ratio. We would love to come back!

We were there for a weekend of wine tasting winter fun. We were greeted very friendly. The rooms were nice and the breakfast was excellent. The winter wine tasting with chocolate and wine and then tarte flambée was excellent. Everything was very tasty. I can only recommend this accommodation. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and the wine tasting were extremely delicious.
