The damous Dreissigacker winery in Rheinhessen

Would have Jochen Dreissigacker followed his parents’ wishes, he would have been a tax advisor instead of a winemaker. But his own passion for wines drove him to pick a career path completely different than what his parents expected it to be. After completing his apprenticeship in the tax office, Jochen did another one, a winegrower apprenticeship. He then joined the family winery with plans to rise to the league of top wineries. Consistency, meticulous attention to detail and striving for better quality are the traits of Jochen that is reflected in the wine bottles.

Organic winemaking

Jochen vinified his first wine in 2001 and he took over the family winery in Bechtheim in 2005. The winery has grown and at present covers 40 hectares area. Since 2007, the winery has been certified for organic production. A new winery was built in the middle of Bechtheim’s vineyards between 2014 and 2018 and this was something which was never been done before in the wine growing region of Rheinhessen. The estate follows the principle of sustainability and other natural conditions. There are spaces for up to two harvests, enabling them to let their single side Rieslings lie on fine yeast for a minimum of 18 months.

The grape varieties harvested in this estate are riesling, chardonnay, weissburgunder and grauburgunder. The estate makes top-quality red, white, rose, sparkling and dessert wines.
