The Inspiring Journey of Mollydooker Wines

Nestled in the picturesque McLaren Vale region near Adelaide, South Australia, Mollydooker Wines stands out for its vibrant atmosphere and innovative approach to winemaking. Founded in 2006 by passionate couple Sarah and Sparky, the winery has roots that trace back to 1991 when they began their journey in the wine industry. After graduating and getting married, they worked at Sarah’s family vineyard, where they developed the Marquis Vineyard Watering Programme™. The name "Mollydooker," meaning left-hander in Australia, reflects their own left-handedness and symbolizes their unique perspective. Their dedication to winemaking earned them the title of Australia’s Winemakers of the Year in 1999, paving the way for numerous awards and accolades for their wines.

Sip it Forward Initiative

Mollydooker Wines is not just about crafting exceptional wines; it also has a strong commitment to giving back. Since 2009, the winery has implemented the "Sip it Forward" initiative, where a portion of the proceeds from select wines supports various community projects and charitable causes. This initiative highlights their belief in making a positive impact while enjoying great wine.

Wines That Impress

The team at Mollydooker Wines is dedicated to their motto, “We make wines that make people go WOW.” Their wines are known for their quality and distinctiveness. One of their innovative offerings includes nitrogen-infused wines, also known as “shaker wines.” By blending their red wines with nitrogen, they minimize the use of sulfites, resulting in a unique tasting experience. Remember to give the bottle a gentle shake before serving to fully appreciate the flavors!

I’ll start my review by saying that I don’t drink alcohol, so I won’t be reviewing beverages. However, I did build my own charcuterie board and it was devine! Gorgeous views, lovely staff. It felt like time was paused while visiting.

Mollydooker offers the best wine tasting experience in McLaren Vale. We’ve loved their wines for years, and visiting the vineyard was a true highlight and one we will try and do regularly! The grounds and decor are stunning. Clive guided us through the tasting and did an excellent job. If you’re in Adelaide, I highly recommend taking a detour to Mollydooker!

What a fantastic morning! We indulged in the tour and tasting experience and an experience it was! Special shout out to Clive who really captivated us on the grape to glass process. He certainly gave us an appreciation for Mollydooker’s unique cultivating and harvesting system. When it came to sit inside and wine taste, we were impressed by many of the drops and seriously struggled to pick just one fave! Thank you, Clive, for going above and beyond to give us and our international guests a tour, tasting, and service that will be hard to beat!

Mollydooker has been on the travel wish list for a long time, so we were very excited to get to have this experience which certainly did not disappoint. The wines are of course delicious, from the regular tasting through the premium tasting. Enchanted Path and the sparkling Shiraz were our favorites. The tasting experience was booked in advance and was so insightful into the history and process. The ambiance is great inside and outside with beautiful grounds to enjoy a glass.

Dropped in on a Tuesday afternoon to sample some of the wines at Mollydooker. I had been introduced to this wonderful winery when they had a “popup” cellar door in Melbourne. Hence, I only though it was right to introduce a friend to their wonderful wines in their home state. Of course, we were not disappointed with the selection on offer and our host James was excellent. I highly recommend that if you are visiting McLaren Vale to drop in and try this magnificent Winery. A huge thanks to Holly for dropping by to say “hello”.
