A charming family run winery in La Manchuela
Vega Tolosa, a family winery in the La Manchuela DOC, has been passed on from the parents to the children for five generations. It was founded in 1929, but in 1998, a new, functional winery was built with the aim of making high-quality wines at a large scale and market them both domestically and worldwide. They own around 250 hectares of old, centennial vineyards with a low yield of high-quality grapes. The younger generations are involved in the business. The daughter of Juan Miguel, Mariluz, works with the family and keeps the story going on.
Organic winemaking at Vega Tolosa winery
The vineyards are certified for organic farming. The climate is continental here with fresh winds that allow the night temperature to be low, which helps the grapes to mature slowly. Even the soil has clay and limestone that is perfect for quality wines.
All the agricultural and production techniques are organic, which helps to preserve nature and the vines too
The main grape varieties that grow here are Bobal, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah, Merlot, Macabeo, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Verdejo. These are used to make their famous, high-quality red, white, and rose wines.
Experience the new winery
In the newly built winery, there are all the modern machines and other technology required for winemaking. There are special spaces for winemaking, bottling, cellar with 250 barrels for ageing of wines, and a tasting room to host the guests. The organic white wine has tropical aromas and fruity flavors, while the rose wine has intense aromas of raspberry and a fresh, balanced taste.
