Vineyards Cultivated Sustainably and Organically
The vineyards of Quinta da Raza Winery are located in Basto, in the middle of the region of Vinho Verde. The climate, rainfall, soil, temperature, and the influence of the Tamega River and mountains make the region perfect for the growth and cultivation of vines. The vineyards workers use only sustainable and organic practices in the farms to protect the natural surroundings and the health of their vineyards.
Main Grape Varieties of the Winery
The main types of grapes that grow here are the Alvarinho, Arinto, Azal, Trajadura, Avesso, Padeiro, and Vinhão. The best grapes go into producing their famous crisp white wines for which the region is known. Despite modern technology, traditional hand harvesting and treading of grapes by foot are still in practice. Quinta da Raza’s green wines have a unique taste and reflect the qualities of their gifted terroir.
