Schmidt Family Vineyards, Present in America’s Famous Wine-region of Applegate Valley
The Schmidt Family Vineyards is present in America’s famous wine-region of Applegate Valley. It began with the owners, Cal and Judy Schmidt’s life-long dream of owning and farming land. Growing up on a wheat farm in Kansas, Cal had a great passion for winemaking. He ran a successful business and took up classes in winemaking and viticulture in his spare time. Cal purchased the Bennet Ranch land in the fertile Kubli Bench in 2000 and set up the estate, which is now famously known as Schmidt Family Vineyards. The first vineyards were planted in 2001. The first 300 cases of wine were produced in 2004 and released in 2006. Their estate also includes a large beautiful pond, big herb and flower gardens, and multiple walking paths available for hosting private events. The walking trails after named for Judy and Cal’s great-grandchildren.
Family Run for Three Generations
The estate is family-run and operated by three generations of the family. Their first vintage in 2006 was loved by the customers and sold out quickly. Currently, they produce around 5500 cases of wines annually. The conditions are perfect for vine cultivation, and they have even planted new vineyards that grow rare Spanish and Italian grape varieties. The main grape types that grow here include Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Albarino, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Malbec, Cab Franc, Tempranillo, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The best grapes are used to make their high-quality red, white, rose, and dessert wines. Their wines are loved by the customers and have a distinct taste and aroma.
