Brooks winery: organic and biodynamic farming
Founded in 1998, Brooks is a reflection of visionary Portland native, Jimi Brooks. While Jimi passed away in 2004, his dynamic spirit lives on through his wines, his family, and his friends. Jimi’s son Pascal who was the ultimate source of his passion for life, is the sole and the youngest winery owner in the world! His sister Janie Brooks Heuck has remarkably volunteered her time to lead the winery and vision, and Chris Williams, Jimi’s dear friend and assistant, took over all winemaking and vineyard management.
Organic and biodynamic farming practices are paramount at Brooks. Their focus is to produce beautiful Riesling and pinot noir, both perfectly suited to the cool climate of the Willamette Valley. They believe the greatest depth, flavors, and balance in a wine are achieved by blending.
Excellent Rieslings and Pinot Noirs
Janie has secured ownership of a 20-acre Eola Hills Vineyard planted to Pinot Noir and Riesling in 2009. The Brooks Estate Vineyard, which includes Pinot Noir and Riesling vines that are over 35 years of age, contributes near one-third of the grapes for production. They make over 20 different Rieslings, which include single vineyard designates, Sparkling, and a dessert version. Brooks is the only winery in the world that is certified biodynamic, 1% for the planet, and B Corp.
The winery provides a view of 4 mountains on a clear day. We have a full kitchen that offers pairings.
They have been a top 100 winery in the world in 2019
2014 was a hallmark year for the winery, as a new winery and tasting room opened and the winery was the focus of a feature-length documentary ‘American Wine Story.’ Production has increased to over 12,000 cases.
