Smidge Wines is the private label of Matt Wenkone, a celebrated winemaker known for his exceptional skills. Previously the chief winemaker at the renowned Two Hands, Matt has a keen eye for selecting the finest vineyards that yield high-quality grapes. His passion for creating distinctive Australian wines began with the winery's inaugural vintage in 2002, which sold out quickly. Since then, Smidge Wines has consistently offered a diverse range of unique wine selections.

Smidge Wines cultivates a variety of grapes, including Shiraz, Grenache, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fiano, Montepulciano, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscat a Petite. These grapes are used to produce an array of red, white, rosé, and fortified wines. Notably, the winery received a medal at the Adelaide Hills Show in 2017 for its 2016 Gruner Veltliner and has earned the prestigious Five Red Star rating from the Australian Wine Companion.

Matt and Trish are very accommodating and great to sit down and drink some wine with! I saw their sign when I was driving down the road and decided to book in for a tasting. Delicious wines, interesting and personal stories behind their names, and a nice little view to go with it! Thanks so much! I look forward to cracking open The Ging (you'll have to ask them the story behind this one!) with dinner on Tuesday night!

We were over from the Mornington Peninsular. We had a lovely time at Smidge with Matt. A really lovely and genuine guy. His wines are amazing. We're not sure if we enjoyed his wine or his company more.... Definitely one of our favorite stops in SA wineries. And we did a lot! Thanks Matt, we really appreciated your time. It really is a must to drop in!
