A Hidden Gem in the Hills of Udine
Di Gaspero Farm
Located in the picturesque village of Dolegnano, Societa' Agricola Di Gaspero is nestled in the heart of Friuli within the renowned Colli Orientali DOC area. This region is celebrated for its exceptional wine production, and for generations, the Di Gaspero family has been dedicated to crafting high-quality wines from grapes grown exclusively on their estate. They meticulously oversee every step of the winemaking process, from vine cultivation and harvest to vinification, aging, bottling, and sale.
The Vineyards of the Winery
Founded in Corno di Rosazzo, the Di Gaspero farm relocated to Dolegnano in 1957 when the first-generation winemaker, Sergio, sought to establish a new agricultural venture. This strategic move allowed the winery to benefit from the region's ideal climate, influenced by the nearby sea and shielded from cold Alpine winds. Initially focused on livestock, the farm gradually expanded its vineyard area, embracing the rich viticultural heritage of Friuli.
The Wines of Societa' Agricola Di Gaspero
The winery's vineyards boast a diverse array of grape varieties, including Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon, and Merlot. Each grape is cultivated with care, resulting in wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. Among their notable offerings is the Uselot wine, which pays homage to the winery's indigenous roots and features a deep ruby red color, rich flavor, and a soft finish with hints of raspberry and blackberry. Another standout is their Sauvignon, which has earned an impressive score of 80.3/100 at the World Sauvignon Competition, showcasing the Di Gaspero family's commitment to quality winemaking.
