A Rich Heritage of Tenuta Barbadoro

For five generations, the Gallerini family has been dedicated to producing exceptional wine and olive oil. The journey began in 1860 with Serafino, and in 1945, Ottavio and his son Guido revitalized the estate, establishing Tenuta Barbadoro as we know it today. Since the 1990s, the winery has been passionately managed, with a strong commitment to quality and environmental stewardship. In 2007, Tenuta Barbadoro proudly became certified organic, embodying the motto, "We respect nature to give you the best." This philosophy is evident in every aspect of their winemaking practices.

The Vines and Olive Groves of Tenuta Barbadoro

Located along the historic Via Volterrana, which once connected Florence and Volterra, Tenuta Barbadoro spans 36 hectares at an elevation of 200 meters. The estate is home to over 15 native grape varieties, including Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, Trebbiano, and Malvasia, alongside international varieties like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Chardonnay. These grapes have thrived in the region since the early 1900s. Additionally, the estate boasts over 2,500 olive trees, featuring native varieties such as Moraiolo, Frantoio, Leccino, and Pendolino, contributing to the rich agricultural heritage of Tuscany.

Excellent tasting. Good and organic wines! Alessio attentive and precise in the explanation, given all the processes for the production of wine and oil. Very beautiful the story linked to the names of the wines and the construction of the house where the winery is located! Highly recommended!!!

My wife and I visited Tenuta Barbadoro as part of a winery tour group in October 2024. The views of the rolling countryside of Tuscany were amazing. And the wines and olive oil that we sampled were fantastic. The bottles were a bit pricey for our budget, especially with shipping to the U.S. was something like 60-70 Euros. Wonderful multi-generational family business - I just wish I could buy their wines here in the southeast U.S. (they sell to restaurants in New York only, they told us).

My husband and I went here on a wine tour in Tuscany. This is our absolute favorite winery we visited. It started while driving onto the gravel drive and were greeted with a smile and wave from the family. The hospitality shown just made the experience that much more memorable. The view of the winery was overwhelming with beauty and awe. Now, let’s talk about WINE! Wow! Every wine we tried was amazing. Everyone on our tour bought wine. We bought 6 and will be back. This is a hidden gem and a must try while you’re visiting Tuscany or on your way to Pisa from Florence.

We have a lovely afternoon at Tenuta Barbadoro. The wine was incredible and the family provided great insight into each one that we tasted. We were also fortunate enough to meet the gorgeous family dogs, highly recommend

What a wonderful welcome, delicious food with seven wines plus a dessert wine. I’m not sure you could go anywhere else where you’d find friendlier people, a more convenient location to get to by public transport (so you can take full advantage of the wine!) or a more beautiful location. Thank you Allessio and Allessandra, you could not have made the experience more special for this solo traveller. ❤️

Amazing experience! Small family run winery that took 9 of us, including 3 small children, very last minute for a full tasting. Super kind people and great wine and olive oil! Thank you!
