Experience the Unique Wines of Nizza DOCG in Agliano Terme
Tenuta Garetto: A Gem in the Nizza Appellation
Located in the picturesque hills of Agliano Terme, Tenuta Garetto Wine Estate is part of the newly established Nizza DOCG Appellation. With roots tracing back to the early 20th century, this winery is celebrated for its vibrant wines that showcase remarkable longevity. Since 2017, the Gagliardo Family has been at the helm, overseeing daily operations. Agliano Terme is renowned for its Barbera grape, and Tenuta Garetto sources its fruit from vineyards planted between 1935 and 1950, complemented by newer plantings. The vinification process occurs in a modern cellar adjacent to the vineyards, ensuring that the wines reflect the unique terroir of the region.
Commitment to Quality Winemaking
At Tenuta Garetto, meticulous care is taken in the vineyard, with most tasks performed by hand. Only the finest grapes are handpicked and transported to the cellar for vinification. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, allowing the wines to mature until they achieve the desired taste, aroma, and structure. The estate primarily cultivates Dolcetto, Muscat Blanc, Cortese, Grignolino, and Barbera grapes, which are crafted into high-quality red and white wines. The ten hectares of vineyards benefit from the sunny Monferrato Astigiano region, characterized by sandy marl soils and a unique microclimate, making it ideal for vine cultivation.
