Tenuta Garetto, Wines from the Nizza Appellation
Tenuta Garetto Wine Estate is present in the hills of Agliano Terme that lies within the newly created Nizza DOCG Appellation. The winery’s history goes back to the early 20th century and is known for its attractive, energetic wines that have exceptional longevity. In 2017, the Gagliardo Family acquired the Tenuta Garetto and is responsible for its day-to-day business. Agliano Terme was always famous for the Barbera grape, and the Tenuta Garetto Winery relies on vineyards planted between 1935 and 1950 for their grapes. Recently more vines were planted, and vinification takes place in their modern cellar, right next to the vineyards. The wines of Tenuta Garetto Winery reflect the exceptional qualities of their terroir and have a truely distinct taste. The vineyards ofT enuta Garetto cover ten hectares of land just beside the winery, and which allows them to take care of the vines and maximize the grape quality. Agliano is in the Monferrato Astigiano region, which is a sunny land. The soil here comprises of sandy marls, which along with the unique microclimate, make the region perfect for the cultivation of vines.
At this winery you experience Great Dedication for Wine
Most of the work in the vineyard at Tenuta Garetto is done by hand and the best grapes are handpicked and taken to the cellar for vinification. Fermentation of wines takes place in stainless steel tanks, and are matured until they reach the desired taste, aroma, and structure. The main grape varieties found here are Dolcetto, Muscat Blanc, Cortese, Grignolino, and Barbera. These grapes are used to make their high-quality red and white wines.
