Experience the Charm of Tuscany at Terre de' Pepi
The Vineyards of Terre de' Pepi
Just 1 km from the historic center of Volterra, Terre de' Pepi boasts 3 hectares of meticulously maintained vineyards. Here, 2 hectares are dedicated to red grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Ciliegiolo, and Colorino, while 1 hectare is reserved for the aromatic Vermentino, used in crafting exquisite white wines. The estate enjoys a southwest-facing slope that overlooks the sea, and its clay-rich soil, enriched with natural stone deposits, creates the perfect environment for producing high-quality wines.
A Scientific Approach to Tradition
The first hectare of vines was planted in 2007, following extensive research by Francesco, whose university thesis at the University of Pisa examined the impact of pre-planting agricultural techniques on soil fertility. This academic foundation has shaped Terre de' Pepi's commitment to sustainable viticulture, blending traditional methods with modern science.
Sustainability at the Heart of Terre de' Pepi
Terre de' Pepi is dedicated to organic vineyard management, avoiding synthetic chemicals and mineral fertilizers. Instead, the estate employs green manure techniques, incorporating legumes and grasses into the soil to naturally enhance fertility. This approach fosters a unique growth cycle and distinctive production yields, setting Terre de' Pepi apart from conventional vineyards. The commitment to soil health and sustainability is reflected in the exceptional quality of the wines produced here.
