Lane Winery, Founded by John and Helen Edwards

The Lane Winery sits high in the Adelaide Hills and has uninterrupted views of the Mount Lofty Ranges. The Edwards Family continues its tradition of making quality wines at Lane Winery. John and Helen Edwards found Ravenswood Lane in 1992 near the village of Hahndorf and chose to grow their vines in the region. For many years, John was with the Hardy Wine Company, and in 2005, when Hardy’s was sold, John took this opportunity to build his own winery and cellar at Ravenswood Lane. Now, along with his family, the Edwards Family has made The Lane, one of Australia’s best wineries. A UNESCO World Heritage bid is in place to internationally recognize the Adelaide Hills landscape for its unique qualities.

Lane Winery uses only the Best Grapes for the Production of their High-Quality Wines

The Mediterranean climate with high rainfall, vast temperature differences, and chilly winds give perfect conditions for the cultivation of vines. These conditions provide the wines with a great structure, complexity, taste, and acidity. The main types of grapes that grow in their vineyards are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. The best grapes are selected for the production of their high-quality red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines.

An Environmentally Friendly Approach in both the Vineyards and Winery

Lane Winery has all the latest equipment and modern technology in their cellar and was designed by John Edwards and Gerald Asbroek. Vineyard workers handpick the best grapes and transport them to the winery for fermentation. All of the work in the vineyards and winery takes place with sustainable and organic practices to protect the environment and the vines.
