Elegant, Cool Climate Wines from South Australia
About The Lane Vineyard
Perched in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, The Lane Vineyard offers stunning views of the Mount Lofty Ranges. Founded in 1992 by John and Helen Edwards, this family-owned winery has become a hallmark of quality in Australian winemaking. After years with the Hardy Wine Company, John seized the opportunity to create his own winery at Ravenswood Lane in 2005. Today, The Lane Vineyard is recognized as one of Australia’s premier wineries, with a UNESCO World Heritage bid underway to honor the unique landscape of the Adelaide Hills.
Exceptional Grapes for Quality Wines
The vineyard thrives at an altitude of 400 meters, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate characterized by high rainfall, significant temperature variations, and cool winds. These ideal conditions contribute to the structure, complexity, and acidity of the wines. The vineyard primarily cultivates Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, ensuring that only the finest grapes are selected for their red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines.
Sustainable Practices in Winemaking
The Lane Vineyard employs modern technology and equipment designed by John Edwards and Gerald Asbroek to enhance the winemaking process. Vineyard workers handpick the grapes, which are then carefully transported to the winery for fermentation. Committed to sustainability, The Lane Vineyard follows organic practices to protect both the environment and the health of the vines, ensuring a responsible approach to winemaking.
