Torre a Oriente- Young Winery in Campania Region Producing Regional Wines and Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Torre a Oriente is a young wine farm in the Campania region that is involved in the production of regional wines and extra virgin olive oil. Patrizia Iannella runs the estate with love and passion.

It produces wines from the autochthonous vineyards present among the beautiful hills of Taburno.

She takes care of six hectares of olive groves with around 1800 trees. During the last harvest season, almost 200 quintals of olives were produced that helped in making 30 hectolitres of high-quality olive oil. The Cuore d’ Ortice olive is medium fruity and has an elegant taste. Its aroma includes hints of tomato, banana, lettuce, beans, etc.

Restoration of their Vineyards

Another great feature is that the winery can make three different wines using the same vine by using different methods in the vineyards. The restoration of the vineyards began in 2002 and allowed them to increase the production and quality of the grapes. The Campania region has porous volcanic soils and a warm Mediterranean climate that is perfect for cultivating vines.

Winery Using the Sustainable Organic Techniques

The main grape varietals that grow in their vineyards are Aglianico and Falanghina. Falanghina is an old Italian white wine grape of Greek origin. Although their wines can have a pine smell, they generally have a citrus taste with spicy or mineral notes. Apart from this, they follow organic farming, and all the work in their vineyards and cellar takes place with sustainable, organic techniques. This allows the wines to retain their natural flavour and preserves their vineyards for future use.
