Villa Il Pozzo is a stunning winery nestled in the heart of Chianti, Tuscany. This estate features an elegant 18th-century manor house and an ancient watchtower, all set on 60 hectares of picturesque land. Nello Gori acquired the estate in 1966, collaborating with local producers before establishing his own winery alongside his wife Tina and son Alessandro. Today, the winery is managed by his sons and grandsons, continuing the family legacy of crafting exceptional Tuscan and Chianti wines for a global audience.
Spanning 60 hectares in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini region, Villa Il Pozzo is located near the renowned Chianti Classico area. The vineyards thrive on southwest-facing hills at an elevation of 250 meters, where the soil is a rich blend of clay, loam, and sandstone, interspersed with beautiful shells and fossils. This stunning landscape, combined with a favorable microclimate, creates ideal conditions for grape cultivation. The estate grows a variety of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Colorino, Merlot, Canaiolo, and Sangiovese across its 30 hectares of vineyards.
Villa Il Pozzo produces a range of complex wines that capture the essence of Chianti. The winery's cellar, discreetly surrounded by pines, cypresses, and olive trees, was built in the 1970s, blending traditional methods with modern winemaking techniques. Duccio Gori, the youngest grandson, oversees the production of Chianti DOCG and Tuscan IGT wines, working closely with oenologist Fabrizio Moltard. The main villa also offers 11 comfortable apartments equipped with modern amenities, providing a welcoming stay for guests.

During our journey through the stunning Tuscan hills on December 29th and 30th, we were searching for a wine tasting experience. After facing several closed doors, we were fortunate enough to discover Villa il Pozzo—truly the most beautiful location in Tuscany, offering breathtaking views. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the host, whose hospitality made us feel completely at home. He took his time to guide us through the fascinating history and process behind their exquisite wines and olive oils. His passion and knowledge were evident, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. The wines were delightful, the olive oils rich in flavor, and the setting—basking in the warm Tuscan sun—was simply unforgettable. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend our afternoon. If you’re looking for exceptional wine, picturesque views, and heartfelt hospitality, Villa il Pozzo is an absolute must-visit.

I truly don’t know how to put into words my experience at Villa in Pozzo. It was an absolute dream and fairytale. My husband and I got married at Villa in Pozzo at the beginning of October 2024. We rented out the whole villa so our family and friends could stay all together. We had a total of 25 people and it was very spacious and comfortable. We could’ve fit more if we wanted too. We spent a total of 3 days there. We had our Welcome Pizza Party, the Wedding and then a Farewell BBQ. The property and grounds are absolutely stunning. It doesn’t feel real. Everything was so well maintained and really had the “Tuscan” feel. Ute, the property manager was FANTASTIC and the sweetest. She answered all of my questions and was there with us the whole time, along with our wedding planner, to make sure everything went smoothly. All of the rooms and accommodations were top tier. All of our family and friends couldn’t believe how amazing everything was. They have a winery down the road that you can do wine tastings and olive oil tastings. The last day we had some bad weather and they generously let our party go to the winery complimentary since we couldn’t enjoy the pool. It was one of my favorite parts. Truly couldn’t recommend Villa il Pozzo enough. 10/10! My husband and I hope to go back one day!

“I had a great time at Villa il pozzo during the wine tasting! The atmosphere was wonderful, and the wines were simply fantastic. I was especially impressed by the selection of local wines. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines, which made the experience even better. I highly recommend a visit!”
