A Family Legacy in the Heart of Piedmont
The Story of Villa Sparina
Villa Sparina's story began in the early 1970s when Mario Moccagatta and his wife Bruna purchased the estate, establishing the Villa Sparina farm. Their dedication and expertise quickly positioned Villa Sparina as a leading producer of Gavi wines in the Piedmont region. Recognizing the potential of the Gavi area, the family expanded their vision by opening the Ostelliere, a 4-star superior hotel, and La Gallina, a gourmet restaurant, in 2004, creating a welcoming destination for wine lovers and travelers alike.
Quality Wines from Majestic Vineyards
Spanning 100 hectares in the Monterotondo district, Villa Sparina is situated in the renowned Gavi DOCG region, where grape cultivation has deep roots in local tradition. The vineyards, nestled among lush woods and benefiting from the gentle Ligurian breeze, are primarily dedicated to the Cortese grape, which is essential for crafting Gavi wines. Notably, grapes from a historic vineyard dating back to 1945 contribute to the Monterotondo cru, showcasing the vibrant acidity and mineral qualities that define this exceptional grape variety. Visitors can appreciate the beauty of the vineyards while savoring the rich flavors of Villa Sparina's wines.
