Vina Poljšak Winery, Sunny Vineyards in the Vipava Valley
Stretched over five hectares and enjoying an abundance of sunshine, Vina Poljšak Winery resides in Gradišče, a perfect winegrowing region near Vipava Valley, Slovenia. The vineyards are located on a steep slope surrounding the winery. The winery production facility has an appealing cellar, where visitors can enjoy the wines, accompanied by light background music.
Vina Poljšak, a Family-Run Winery in the Fifth Generation
For more than 200 years, vine cultivation has been thriving in Vipava, and the beautiful tale of the Poljšak Family began in 1830 with the birth of Anton Poljšak. Later, he married and relocated to Gradišče, where a long tradition of winemaking inspired him, and he began cultivating grapes. From father to son, persevering the ancestral legacy, the fifth generation manages the winery’s operations. Today, guests can organize small memorable events with exceptional wine and food pairings at Vina Poljšak Winery.
Delicious Wines Made by Local Traditional Methods
On family-owned vineyards, the winery grows an extensive range of grapes, using traditional methods. Their varieties comprise of Zelen, Pinela, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ribolla, Malvasia, Yellow Muscat, and Merlot. They also grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Tannat, Carménère, and Marselan. After effective fermentation, the berries are converted into delicious red, white, and sparkling wines, paired with excellent dessert wines, all made with ZGP status.
With the construction of a new, modern cellar, the Poljšak Family discovered a small cave with a well, enclosed within the ancient walls.
They installed fantastic lighting in the cave, making it a perfect tourist spot to learn the family history and enjoy a wine unique wine tasting experience. The owner stores his old vintages under ideal cool temperature in this cellar space. Several French oak barrels and stainless steel vats are lined up for aging and storage of the wines.
