Vina Poljšak Winery: A Gem in the Vipava Valley

Located in Gradišče, Vina Poljšak Winery spans six hectares of sun-kissed vineyards in the picturesque Vipava Valley, Slovenia. The winery is nestled on a steep slope, providing an ideal environment for grape cultivation. Visitors can enjoy a delightful tasting experience in the charming cellar, accompanied by soothing background music.

A Legacy of Winemaking: The Poljšak Family Tradition

With roots dating back to 1830, the Poljšak family has been dedicated to winemaking for over 200 years. Anton Poljšak, the family patriarch, began cultivating grapes in Gradišče, laying the foundation for a rich winemaking heritage. Today, the fifth generation continues this legacy, managing the winery with passion and expertise. Vina Poljšak Winery is also a wonderful venue for intimate gatherings, offering exceptional wine and food pairings.

Crafting Quality Wines with Traditional Techniques

The family-owned vineyards produce a diverse selection of grapes using time-honored methods. Varieties include Zelen, Pinela, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ribolla, Malvasia, Yellow Muscat, and Merlot, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Tannat, Carménère, and Marselan. After careful fermentation, these grapes transform into exquisite red, white, and sparkling wines, complemented by delightful dessert wines, all crafted under ZGP status.

During the construction of a new cellar, the Poljšak family uncovered a small cave with a well, nestled within ancient walls.

This cave, now beautifully lit, serves as a unique spot for visitors to learn about the family’s history while enjoying a memorable wine tasting experience. The owner preserves old vintages in this cool cellar, which houses several French oak barrels and stainless steel vats for aging and storage.

200 year old family winery, lovingly run by the family. We went there spontaneously in the high season and the naturally cooled wine cellar is particularly recommended on warm days. Here you can get advice on their wines in German, English, Croatian and Slovenian. The Zelen in particular is unique and all of them were unique due to their special fruit notes. The cheese and sausage platter with regional products can also be fully recommended at a low price....
