The Starc family has called this place home for over 400 years, with the name Pri Starčih reflecting their long-standing heritage. In a unique twist, the farm was passed down to a daughter who married into the Tavčar family, leading to the winery's current name that honors both families.
The winemaking practices at Pri Starčih are the result of generations of dedication and refinement. Over the years, the vineyards have expanded, the wine cellars have grown, and modern machinery has been introduced. Today, the winery cultivates 5 hectares of vineyards that beautifully complement the picturesque village landscape. Each vineyard boasts its own unique characteristics; the older plantations are known for their resilience against various weather conditions, while the newer ones are cultivated using innovative techniques. The experience of tasting their wines, accompanied by local specialties (very good sausages and cheeses!) is highly recommended… the kindness and hospitality of the owner was truly gratifying; if you are in the area I definitely recommend visiting this winery.

Nice family business of wine making and woodwork. They make 30-40 thousand liters per year with many sorts including the standards such as cabarnet, porto and the local ones made from Teran sort. Very friendly owners that drink with the guests, tell the stories of the wine making. Definetely recommmended if you are staying in Križ.

Exquisite people, who deeply love what they do and who like to tell the stories of their winemaking tradition and the territory, with a historical memory of great respect considering their 80 years. All accompanied by discoveries such as oil extracted from grape seeds and a delicious grape juice. We would have easily spent a day in their company walking through the countryside and the beautiful vineyard that surrounds them. A tasting experience highly recommended

The owner here is a legend. He made our entire trip so that we are still talking about this experience. He showed us everything from grapes and trying them out to many different of his favorite wines. The owner made us a nice charcuterie and drank with the two of us. A seriously incredible man that treated us complete strangers like family. I will forever cherish this memory and will only visit here when I’m back next !
