Vinchio-Vaglio Serra: A Scenic Wine Region

Founded in 1959, Viticoltori Associati di Vinchio Vaglio Serra is nestled in the picturesque hills of Alto Monferrato, Piedmont. The winery benefits from steep hillside vineyards, where a blend of traditional and modern winemaking techniques results in exceptional wines recognized under Piedmont DOC status. The stunning landscapes and lush vineyards create a memorable experience for every visitor.

A Cooperative of Passionate Winegrowers

The winery began as a cooperative with 19 dedicated winegrowers from Vinchio and Vaglio Serra. Today, it has grown to include numerous contributors who cultivate 450 hectares of vineyards. Of this, 270 hectares are dedicated to the renowned Barbera grape, producing Barbera d’Asti D.O.C.G. wines. The vineyards are primarily located in Vinchio and Vaglio, with additional plots in nearby provinces such as Incisa Scapaccino, Cortiglione, Nizza Monferrato, Castelnuovo Belbo, Castelnuovo Calcea, and Mombercelli.

A Diverse Range of Indigenous Grape Varieties

The region's unique climate and soil conditions provide ideal growing conditions for a variety of grapes. Each vine yields 1.5-2 kilograms of grapes with optimal sugar levels. In addition to Barbera, the winery cultivates Grignolino, Ruche, Nebbiolo, Pinot Nero, Cortese, Chardonnay, Arneis, Moscato, and Brachetto. These diverse grape varieties allow for the production of red, white, and rosé wines, as well as delightful dessert and sparkling wines. The winery features modern winemaking facilities, including a newly constructed bottling room, and utilizes both large and small barrels, along with stainless steel containers, to ensure quality storage. The welcoming sales point in the tasting room offers visitors the chance to purchase the esteemed wines of Viticoltori Associati di Vinchio Vaglio Serra.

Visit to the cellar with wine tasting. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained everything to us in detail, from the origins of the winery to the cultivation of the grapes and the production of the wine. The tasting was carefully done and well explained. The shop is large, neat and full of quality wines.

We were interested in tasting the wines with a visit to the cellars. A very positive experience which allowed us to appreciate the excellent quality of its wines and discover the organization of beautiful events immersed in nature among green meadows, nests and giant benches, eating well and tasting their excellent wines in an atmosphere of great joy with great outlet for the little ones
