Weinbau Gross Winery: In the heart of Beautiful Pfalz
Pfalz is located in southwestern Germany, which is merely 9 miles narrow stretch of land that extends through the vineyards, beautiful orchards, and scenic villages. In terms of the growing area, Pfalz is the second largest German wine region. This region has the most optimum condition for the viticulture and is one of the warmest winegrowing regions of Germany. The summers are dry but not too hot while the winters are mild. The soil composition of this region has varied proportions of sandstone, limestone, marl, loess-loam, and granite.
Pfalz is known as the hub for agriculture and wineries. One such winery located in this beautiful location is the Weinbau Gross.
Continuing the tradition
Weinbau Gross is a family estate that has been running for over five generations. It started with the steady passion and hard work of one single woman, Margarethe (“Greta”), the great grandmother who created this estate out of the rubbles from the second world war and it is not merely an ordinary winery. The same level of skills and passion has been passed from one generation to next and today is run by the fifth generation.
From the 30 hectares of vineyards cultivated, a personally selected part of the yield has been made in the in-house bottle since 2007.
In all the steps of winemaking, the processes pass through the hands of three generations. The vineyards have grape varietals from red to white which are handpicked to make red, white, rose and dessert wines.
