Winery Expansion and Vineyard Purchases
Today, Markus Spindler, the current owner, handles the management of the winery. The connection between viticulture and the Spindler Family, dates back to 1656, and was established when Sontag Spindler bought the Forster Kirchenstück vineyard. Later, Johann-Josef Spindler divided the winery into three parts – Weingut Heinrich Spindler, Weingut Lindenhof Eugen Spindler, and Weingut Wilhelm Spindler. In 1980, the family expanded the winemaking business by purchasing more vineyards from Forster Weingut Ferd Heinemann.
High-Quality Riesling Reigns Supreme
Markus Spindler owns an area of 20 hectares where he grows a broad range of vines. Eighty percent of the land is dedicated to high-quality Riesling, whereas, on the remaining 20%, he cultivates Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Noir. The production staff carries out a manual picking of grapes, and only the carefully selected bunches are brought in the cellar for soft pressing. Along with top-quality white wines with a Riesling base, the owner produces rich quality red, sparkling, dessert, and rosé wines, all within the Forst village’s appellation.
Boasting a membership of Culinary Heritage, the winery owns a magnificent wine restaurant – Gutsausschank Spindler. Here, guests can come and spend the most memorable vacation, experiencing a unique wine-food pairing. The restaurant also consists of an elegant garden that offers seasonal and regional cuisines.
