Originally a mixed agricultural estate, the winery shifted its focus to viticulture under Richard Christmann, who transformed the property by replacing the agricultural barn with a modern wine production facility. Today, the winery is equipped with advanced technology, including grape harvesters and fermentation tanks, ensuring the highest quality in every bottle.
The Pfalz region boasts ideal conditions for vine cultivation, characterized by its lime, loam, and clay soils, along with a favorable microclimate that features low rainfall. These elements contribute to the growth of perfectly ripe grapes with balanced acidity.
At Weingut Jens Christmann, the primary goal is to nurture the vines and produce the finest grapes for high-quality German wines.
With minimal intervention throughout the winemaking process, the winery preserves the natural flavors and aromas of the grapes. The vineyard primarily cultivates varieties such as Riesling, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay, Weißburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Solaris, Dornfelder, Spätburgunder, and Blauer Portugieser, resulting in exquisite red, white, rosé, and dessert wines.
The cellar at Weingut Jens Christmann features temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation tanks, allowing for precise development of the wines. Red wines are aged in wooden barrels for one year, enhancing their complexity and character. The wines from Weingut Jens Christmann are celebrated for their elegance and reflect the unique terroir of the Pfalz region.

I have been a guest at Weingut Christman since Jen‘s grandfather was the wine maker. Jen’s’ father, Richard, was a 16-year-old teenager when I met him. I remember his marriage to Jen’s mother Irene and I remember also Jen’s birth. (does his show how damn old I am?).After his death and old old Herr Christmann passed, Richard took over and was wine maker for many many years, from whom Jens learned the craft. After Richards early passing a few years ago Jens took over. Jen’s mother Irene is still very active in the business with the cooking and general support and knowledge of winemakings. The Christmanns are a wonderful, honest family and I consider them some of my best friends. I visit the family every few years and it is always a highlight of my trip to Europe. The winery has grown immensely, from oak wine barrels that were in the cellar underneath the Oma’s house. The Weingut is now a large, commercial winery that has not lost the family touch. Six stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very family atmosphere. We were there for wine tasting this evening. With a walk to Wingert. Wine cellar inspection. Explanation of each wine presented. Delicious food by prior arrangement. We were totally thrilled
