Experience the Passion of Barefoot Winemakers in the Heart of Palatinate
Meet the Barefoot Winemaker Couple of Weinbau Schreiber
Nestled in the picturesque village of Großniedesheim, Weinbau Schreiber is a family-owned winery that embodies the rich viticulture tradition of the Palatinate region. Venessa and Jens Schreiber, known as barefoot winemakers, are dedicated to crafting exceptional red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. Their commitment to quality and sustainability reflects their deep-rooted passion for winemaking.
A Legacy of Excellence
The term ‘barefoot winemakers’ symbolizes their close connection to nature rather than a literal practice. The Schreiber family has been involved in viticulture for over 30 years. In 2012, Venessa took over the winery from her in-laws and, alongside Jens, who brought his experience in grape farming, began to expand their offerings. They have since completed various wine education courses to enhance their skills. By 2015, they proudly bottled their second vintage, which quickly gained local recognition.
Commitment to Sustainable Practices
Venessa and Jens are passionate about sustainable farming, employing methods that avoid chemicals, pesticides, and sulfides. They cultivate a variety of high-quality grapes, including Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Kerner, Grauburgunder, and Weißburgunder. Additionally, they reserve land for fruity Silvaner, Sauvignon Blanc, Portugieser, and Spätburgunder. Every step of the winemaking process, from hand-picking grapes to selecting the finest bunches, is done with care and precision.
