Meet Barefoot Winemaker Couple of Weinbau Schreiber
Surrounded by the scenic beauty of Palatinate, Weinbau Schreiber is a family-run winery located in a charming village, Großniedesheim. The viticulture tradition has been carried out in this town for a long time. Respecting these traditions, Venessa and Jens Schreiber deliver top-quality red, white, rose, and sparkling wines within Pfalz’s most fertile wine region. The couple is well-known as barefoot winemakers, wine enthusiasts, and career changers.
Getting Awards since the First Wine Bottle came out
The name ‘barefoot winemakers’ doesn’t mean they walk over the grapes barefoot but expresses their closeness to nature. The viticulture vocation has been running in the Schreiber family for over 30 years. In 2012, Venessa acquired the business from her in-laws and decided to expand it. Jens, Venessa’s husband, already had experience in grape farming and winemaking when they established the winery. The couple took up various wine-related courses to refine their winemaking art. In 2015, they bottled their second vintage and sold it locally.
Natural, Down-to-Earth & Authentic Grapes
Venessa and Jens share a great love for nature. Therefore, they carry out sustainable grape farming methods, free of chemicals, pesticides, and sulfides. The couple grows high-quality Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Kerner, Grauburgunder, and Weißburgunder. Some acres are reserved for fruity Silvaner, Sauvignon Blanc, Portugieser, and Spätburgunder. Every procedure is done manually, from picking grapes to selecting the best bunches.
