Family-Run Winery in Krems

Weingut Aigner, a charming 16-hectare winery located in the heart of Krems, Kremstal, boasts a rich history dating back to 1773. Now in its ninth generation, the winery is managed by siblings Birgit and Christian Aigner, who carry on their family's passion for winemaking. Their commitment to crafting high-quality wines reflects the unique terroir of the Kremstal region, ensuring that each bottle tells a story of its origin.

The Terroir of Kremstal

The vineyards of Kremstal are primarily located on the northern bank of the Danube, where they gracefully ascend the gentle slopes above Krems. This region enjoys a warmer climate due to its proximity to the Pannonian Plain, which is balanced by cool mountain winds from the Alps. The Danube also plays a vital role in moderating temperatures, providing a favorable environment for grape cultivation. Kremstal's diverse soil types, including clay, limestone, and deep loess, contribute to the distinct flavors found in its wines.

Commitment to Sustainability

Weingut Aigner is proud to hold the "Sustainable Austria" certification, highlighting its dedication to environmentally friendly practices in viticulture. This certification ensures that the winery adheres to economic, ecological, and social standards. Key factors evaluated include water and energy usage, soil health, biodiversity, and community engagement. By prioritizing sustainability, Weingut Aigner not only produces exceptional wines but also contributes positively to the environment and society.

Stayed at the guesthouse for a weekend to bike around the area and drink wine. The atmosphere is beautiful and you immediately feel at home. The in-house wines are excellent. What we liked most, however, is the warmth with which you are looked after here.
