Domäne Wachau Winery is located in the region of Wachau and cultivates around 400 hectares of vines. Led by the winery director, Roman Horvath MW, and winemaker, Heinz Frischengruber, the workers at Domäne Wachau Winery cultivate one-third of the valley’s steep terraced vineyards. The winery owns plots in many of the region’s premium sites such as Singerriedel, Achleiten, Loibenberg, and Kellerberg which are included among Austria’s Grand Cru vineyard sites. Extreme winegrowing conditions and impressive diversity characterize the Wachau. Domäne Wachau masters these challenging conditions and focuses on producing premium white wines that are defined by their origin.

Domäne Wachau’s wine portfolio ranges from light and lively Steinfeder wines to elegant and balanced Federspiels to concentrated and complex Smaragd style wines. Domäne Wachau is a member of Vinea Wachau, the regional winegrowers association that defines strict rules for winegrowing and winemaking and established the classification of Steinfeder, Federspiel, and Smaragd, the region’s classical wine styles. The rainfall, climate, temperature, and soil in the region is perfect for the cultivation of vines. The main varieties of grapes that grow here are Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Zweigelt, and Pinot Noir. Minimal Intervention While Producing Wines for True Preservation of Natural Flavors and Aromas
The cellar at Domäne Wachau has all the modern facilities and machines required for high tech winemaking. The workers handle the grape juice with care and ferment it to perfection. There is very little use of sulfur in their wines to preserve the natural taste and flavor. Minimal Intervention is imparted while producing wines for true preservation of the natural flavors and aromas of their Wachau wines.
