Hans Igler Winery, Famous Red Wines of Austria
Hans Igler Winery is present in Austria’s most famous red wine area, located at the most eastern and youngest part of Austria, within the Burgenland. Hans Igler, the well-known pioneer of red wine, established the winery in the 1960s and identified the character of the typical regional style of the grape Blaufränkisch.
Celebration of the Winery
Nowadays, Waltraud Reisner-Igler, with her husband Wolfgang and her son Clemens Reisner with his spouse, Anna, is following the vision to create the perfect “Blaufränkisch.” The very long-standing tradition reflected within the wines is apparent in how well they age. Their “Vulcano” wine celebrates the 30th anniversary with vintage 2017, the powerful Blaufränkisch “Biiri” wine has been created for the past 14 years, and “Ab Ericio” reaches the 19th year with vintage 2017.
Hans Igler Winery’s best vineyards are present in Biiri that means old vineyards, located 250 meters above sea level.
