A Soothing Vacation at Franz Schindler Winery
Enhanced by the west shore of Lake Neusiedi, Franz Schindler Winery is a family business based in the Mörbisch wine region of the Austrian state, Burgenland. The company cultivates numerous grape varieties and produces top-quality wines ranging from light, fruity to intense wines. It has a modernized cellar where the wines are stored in steel containers, big oak barrels and barriques. For travellers who want overnight accommodation, the estate provides contemporary guestrooms.
Four Generations of Winemaking Traditions and Counting
The Schindler family has been growing vines and crafting high-end wines for many generations. After completing his viticulture studies in Klosterneuburg, Ing. Ferry Schindler joined the family business in 1999 and produced the first cuvée with “”L’esprit Ferry.”” Later in 2004, he acquired the cellar, and subsequently the whole winery management in 2008. Today, he is accompanied by Anita Schindler – the guestroom rental manager, Franz Schindler – the winemaker and cellar master, and Kaethe Schindler supports the entire wine-growing activities.
Strict Eco-Friendly Practices are Carried Out in the Vineyards
Planted with 70% red and 30% white grape varieties, the family-owned 15 hectares of vineyards are located in the best Mörbischer locations. The family grows fruity red grapes, including Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and for the whites, the winery team cultivates Welschriesling, Muscat Ottonel and Sauvignon Blanc. A few hectares are also dedicated to Bouvier grape and Chardonnay for sweet wines.
