Peter Schandl Winery – Celebrating Ruster Wine Culture

At Weingut Peter Schandl, hospitality meets the rich culinary traditions of Rust in the scenic Burgenland region. Located just a short walk from Buschenschank and Hotel Schandl, this winery crafts exceptional red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines from historic grape varieties, including Furmint, Gelber Muskateller, and Welschriesling.

A Winemaking Heritage Since 1741

Owned by Paul Schandl, the Peter Schandl Winery has been in the Schandl family for nearly 276 years. With the support of his wife, Elle, Paul has expanded the vineyard's offerings. In 1980, he introduced Cabernet to Rust and honed his winemaking skills through experiences in South Africa, New Zealand, and California. Today, the winery also cultivates Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Traminer, Blaufränkisch, Merlot, and Pinot Noir.

Visit the Historic Schandl Tavern

Barbara Schandl manages the charming 18th-century townhouse, which serves as the Schandl Tavern in the heart of the Rust wine region. Featuring historical cross vaults and a lovely guest garden with a vine arbor, the tavern offers unique wine tastings and culinary experiences inspired by Pannonian culture. The Schandl family also operates a beautiful hotel on the shores of Lake Neusiedl, dating back to the 17th century, with 19 guest rooms, including three junior suites, two family rooms, and 11 double rooms.

A fantastic variety of varieties and quality of these wines cultivated in the family business. Both white and red wines have a distinctive taste and are very expressive
