Weingut Grenzhof-fiedler, an Outstanding Winery at Lake Neusiedl
The Weingut Grenzhof-Fiedler is present at the end of Moerbisch, around 500 meters away from the Hungarian border. Due to some division due to former inheritance, their property is divided into 30 individual vineyards on the gentle eastern slopes around the Lake Neusiedl. The single vineyards allow them to cultivate multiple varieties of grapes. Gerhard, Bernhard, and Elfi Fiedler run the winery and are responsible for its daily operations. Warm summers and autumns along with Lake Neusiedl give heat to the vines at night, and the varying soils yield elegant wines with an intensely aromatic character and noble sweet wines that belong to the best dessert wines of the world.
Best Grown Grapes for Best Wines
The staff takes proper care of the vineyards to maintain their long life. All the work in their vineyards is done under organic guidelines to protect the environment. The workers harvest every grape by their hands, and the unsuitable grapes are left out. This helps to preserve the natural fruity taste and aroma of the grapes. The main grape varieties that grow in their vineyards include Grüner Veltliner, Muskat Ottonel, Pinot blanc, Chardonnay, Traminer, Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon. The best grapes are used to produce their exquisite red, white, rose, sparkling, and dessert wines. The wines are fermented in the cellar and allowed to mature in barriques or wooden barrels to attain their characteristics. Bottling usually occurs from February to May after a lengthy maturation period. The wines reflect the qualities of the region and their hard work and commitment.
