Weingut Steyrer, Winemaking Since 1979

The Weingut Steyrer is a third-generation winery involved in winemaking since 1979. In 1987, they started prioritizing the vinification of single-vineyard, aromatic wines that reflect the characteristics of the region and the character of their winery. The Traisental region is one of the best wine regions of the country and has a fantastic quality density and variety. Since 2006, the introduction of the Traisental DAC has brought about a significant boost in the quality of the region. Steyrer stands for wines that are clean in style, have a flawless structure and fruity aroma. They produce classic, pure wines along with playful variations.

Terroir of the Winery

Their vineyards are located in Anzenberg and on Walpersdorf’s mountain directly behind the Walpersdorf’s castle. The region has soil consisting of limestone and sand that enhance the quality of the wines. There is a Pannonian influence on weather, and cold winds blow from the foothills of the Alps. Along with these conditions, there is sunshine for around 1700 hours that make the region perfect for vine cultivation. The main types of grapes that grow here are Grüner Veltliner, Zweigelt, Riesling, Gelber Musakteller, Sauvignon blanc, Weissburgunder and Rösler. The best grapes are used to make their high-quality red, white, rose, sparkling and dessert wines. The staff uses only organic and integrated methods in their vineyards and winery. It helps in the preservation of the environment and protects the health of their vines. A partnership with a famous caterer allows them to have tasty snacks and festive menus for lunch or dinner.
