Château de Luins

A Story Before the 20th century

Throughout the history of Château de Luins, it was always operated as a wine-growing and agricultural estate until the beginning of the 20th century. Over the centuries, the building passed into the hands of various great seigniorial families - each leaving a mark, particularly in the architecture of the building. At the beginning of the 17th century, the old feudal house was rebuilt by the families of Wurstemberger and Wyttenbach, whose coats of arms can be found engraved on a door inside the Château below the date 1612. In the 18th century, the residence was acquired successively by Jacques de Pourtalès, a count from Neuchâtel, then by a French count, from Ganay. Before becoming an heir until 1909. When Hermann Trüssel, a Bernese wine merchant and ancestor of the current owners, bought the Château de Luins and its vines and began to cellar, vinify and market the harvest himself.
