A Well-Traveled Winemaker

The Arizcuren winery and estate is located in the Yerga Mountain Range. The winery was founded by Javier Arizcuren who comes from a long family history of wine growers. After completing his degree in viticulture, Zavier travelled the world’s most famous wine regions and began making his own blends.

In 2011, Javier officially took over the family farm and began producing high quality Arizcuren Wines that we see today.

Arizcuren winery: Preserving The Wine Heritage

The goal of at Arizcuren is to recover the memory of La Rioja Baja and to preserve the wine heritage of the Spanish wine making ancestors, presenting the expression of the terroir. The vineyards of Arizcuren are made up of only the very best vines with the greatest viticulture potential. The vines range in age from 30 to 120 years old and are mainly conducted in the Goblet system with optimum soil, altitude and orientation for vine cultivation. All of the plots of Arizcuren are worked using strictly organic methods and processes, which means they are free from pesticides, herbicides and all synthetic fertilizers.

Taste Some Gorgeous Garnachas

The harvest time differs each year and is dependent on when the grapes have reached the maximum balance of fruitiness and acidity. Grapes are carefully selected and handpicked from the wines and transported with care in plastic boxes to ensure that their integrity is preserved. From here they are transferred into processing tanks and left to work their magic. The wines produced at Arizcuren winery are the Solo Mazuelo and the Solo Garnacha. The Solo Mazuelo is purple and red in colour and has a medium depth. The predominant aromas are red and black berries. The Solo Garnacha is straw coloured and full bodied with crisp acids.
