Juan Carlos Sancha, S.L., was founded in 2005 by Juan Carlos Sancha González, Doctor of Viticulture and Enology, Technical Engineer in Agricultural Industries, Degree in Oenology, Master in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of Polytechnic of Madrid, Diploma of Advanced Studies (Research Sufficiency).

The company is engaged in the planting, cultivation of vineyards and the production, aging and marketing of wines under the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin.

Located in the municipality of Baños de Río Tobía (La Rioja), the winery was built in 2008, beginning in 2009 the commercialization of its wines. Modern and avant-garde design, it is equipped with the best existing technology to produce quality wines.

Currently it has 27 ha of its own vineyard spread over more than 93 plots in the municipality of Baños de Río Tobía.

The entire vineyard is cultivated using organic farming techniques, which will be produced in the own winery. The production capacity is 130,000 kg of grapes.

In the productive area we have followed a line of differentiation that materializes in these actions:

•Cultivation of minority native varieties using ecological cultivation techniques.

•Innovative production process with alcoholic fermentation in barrels.

•Presentation of wines in a differentiated way according to the following aspects, including specially designed bottle that protects wine from light, air and temperature changes; technological cork stopper, which avoids TCA problems.

•Research work: The activity of the winery goes beyond the purely commercial as it involves delving into the very foundations of a viticulture like the one that has historically existed in Rioja, considering the genetic variability of it, affirming its own identity, indigenous and rich in nuances.

•The company has participated and actively participates in several R&D projects for the recovery of minority native varieties. We are currently in a national project of the PTV (Technological Platform of Wine) to produce wines in Tinajas de Barro and granite Tanks

Wonderful! Those wines are so good, and the recovery of native grape varieties is so important. That white Tempranillo, La Maturana. Spectacular!

Juan Carlos is an absolute gem - incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about viticulture and winemaking. You can see the sparkle in his eyes when he talks about his craft and explains what makes his winery special. The wines we tasted were excellent and very fairly priced. I give Juan Carlos Sancha a 5-star rating for the experience. We went to see the Vitis silvestris in his Hamer, and then the century-old vines in his vineyard. We learned about wine, sulfites, science, climate change, and different ways of doing things in the wine world, all in an educational and engaging way. An experience I recommend to any wine lover. At the tasting, we tried his wines AdLibitum, La Peña del Gato, and Peña la Isa, all four of which were wonderful. Then, in Logroño, at the Gastrobar Tastavin, C/San Juan 25, we were able to continue tasting other wines from Juan Carlos Sancha's winery, such as his granite barrel-aged wine, which is also wonderful. Highly recommended.

An unforgettable experience. We were fortunate to tour with Juan Carlos Sancha himself, who not only holds a PhD in oenology and is a university professor, but also deeply passionate about preserving the native varieties of La Rioja. The visit was interesting, educational, and very engaging. We learned about the unique projects he works on, including vertical farming (the only one in the region), the efforts to protect winemaking history, and the sustainable work they do in the vineyards. The wines we tasted were of the highest quality, all with personality and a reflection of the effort and location. Without a doubt, this was the best experience we've had at a winery in La Rioja. Highly recommended.

Absolutely spectacular. His knowledge is invaluable. I came to him on the recommendation of one of his students and a friend. Juan Carlos is attentive, patient, and always willing to explain as many times as necessary. He's fluent in several languages, with impeccable English. My clients were delighted and eager to return to La Rioja. Congratulations on your kindness and vast knowledge. I will definitely return.
