Bodegas Javier San Pedro Ortega is a family-owned winery rooted in a rich winemaking heritage. Javier San Pedro Ortega, born in Laguardia, is the fifth generation of his family to craft wines. With over 100 hectares of vineyards in Laguardia, he began his own winemaking venture in 2013, drawing on his lifelong experience in the industry.
The winery offers two unique wine ranges: Cueva de Lobos, known for its modern character and aromatic profiles, and Viuda Negra, which focuses on reviving old vineyards to enhance quality. Additionally, Anahi, a semi-sweet white wine, was created in tribute to Javier's mother. These appellations showcase the winery's commitment to quality and innovation.
Situated in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, the vineyards boast stunning views of the Sierra de Cantabria Mountains and the picturesque village of Laguardia. Javier believes that exceptional vineyards are essential for producing great wines. The 100 hectares of vineyards feature diverse geological characteristics, with vines positioned on hills that receive optimal sunlight. This unique terrain contributes to the high quality of the grapes, primarily Tempranillo, along with Viura, White Tempranillo, Garnacha, Malvasía, and Sauvignon Blanc.

If you are anywhere close by you just have to book a tour here. I’m not going to tell you much about it because it will spoil the surprise of how it evolves. It’s tremendous entertainment accompanied by fascinating facts, great wine and delicious food. It’s not often I say I’d repeat a winery tour but this one I definitely would. Our guide Joel was fabulous. We booked on a whim because it was one of the few bodegas open on a Sunday close to Laguardia. We will never forget - thank you Joel XX

Excellent tasting with totally personalized attention and reasonable prices. Cozy place with beautiful views. Very friendly staff, available to answer our questions and go above and beyond, as they even helped us reserve a table at a restaurant in La Guardia. Reasonable prices. Totally recommended.

Excellent experience! The visit to the winery is super complete, very close and original, different from usual visits. I 100% recommend visiting this winery as an experience. It is a small winery where you feel that everything is done with great care and the work of each member of the team is valued, making the wine rich and cared for the quality it produces.
