Bodegas Riojanas, One of the 13 Centenary Wineries in Rioja

Bodegas Riojanas is one of the 13 centenary wineries in Rioja that founded the Denomination. It is a journey through more than 125 years of history in which caress and care in the elaboration and their passion for wine can be felt in each corner. The Artacho family had a long history in winemaking, and they set up the Bodegas Riojanas in 1890. The 1799 stone door used to enter the family vineyards is preserved at the winery’s entrance. In June 2005, the renovation of the old winery took place, and the cellar combined their traditional methods with innovative winemaking techniques and modern machinery and technology. Their staff has a lot of knowledge and experience in this field and make the best wines for their customers.

Spectacular Wines and Great Wines

Bodegas Riojanas owns and operates almost 100 hectares of vineyards present in the best locations including San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Cenicero and other regional towns. The soil is clayey and has limestone in it and along with a unique microclimate makes the region perfect for vine cultivation. The main grape varietals that grow in their estate are Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano. These grapes are processed to make their award-winning red, white and dessert wines. The workers handpick the best grapes and take them to the winery in small boxes. Fermentation takes place in the cellar, and after that, the wines are aged in oak barrels to attain the desired taste and structure. Their three wine categories are the Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva.
