The Story of Berozas Wine

Berozas Wine is nestled in Velistsikhe, one of Kakheti's oldest villages. Established nearly 200 years ago, this family-owned winery is celebrated for its exceptional wines. Generations of the Berozashvili family have committed themselves to crafting perfectly balanced bottles. Each autumn, various grape types are harvested and transformed into premium white and red wines under the expertise of head winemaker Zurab Berozashvili.

Exquisite Wines at the Cellar

Since opening its doors to visitors in 2010, Berozas Wine became an official LLC on December 26, 2018. With the help of a tourism agency, the winery is now part of the esteemed “Wine Route” project. Notably, during his visit to Georgia in 2008, Joe Biden raised a glass of Berozas Wine, leading to the playful nickname “Bidenuri” among locals. The winery produces wines from grape varieties such as Mtsvane, Rkatsiteli, Khikhvi, Kisi, and Saperavi, all sourced from their own vineyards.

Awards and Recognition

Berozas Wine has received numerous accolades, starting with the highest rating for their dry white Rkatsiteli at the first family-made wine festival in 2009. Their semi-sweet red Saperavi earned a top quality diploma at an international festival in Bulgaria in 2015. Additionally, at the inaugural Cha-cha festival in 2018, the winery's Cha-cha and Brandy were awarded silver and bronze medals. In December 2019, Berozas Wine began exporting to the United States, steadily gaining recognition as a distinguished Georgian wine.

We had such a special, heartwarming visit to Berozas. The family were so incredibly welcoming and generous with their time and information. We shared lunch and were delighted when Mr Beroza tested us to a song. Highly recommend

Nice people. Talented winemaker and musician Zurab Berozashvili - you can see on the YouTube channel. Nine wines for tasting. Of the minuses, the price is a bit high - 30 GEL per person, not always reliable (embellished) information from the guide - the wife of the winemaker, and most importantly, it seems that wines, except for a narrow circle and tastings, have not been produced for a long time, qvevris have not been filled for a long time, probably for objective reasons - labor-intensive and unprofitable. I was upset that the bottle I bought for 50 GEL was leaking through the cork.
