Shumi Winery is the true birthplace of wine in the Kakheti region of Georgia. The Shumi Winery and estate is one of the most truly unique wineries in the world as it is not only a winery but also a cultural and wine tourism complex. The history of the winery spans over 8000 years of wine making tradition. The winery was established in 1997 in a location of historic significance in Tsinandali in Kakhati, Georgia. This is one of the country’s most famous wine making regions.

The philosophy of the wine making team at Shumi is to find the perfect blend of quality and innovation. In following this dream, Shumi has become the first company in Georgia to use and develop biodynamic and green harvesting methods and to produce certified organic wines.
These wines have over time achieved more than 270 prestigious international awards and are currently exported to more than 27 countries around the world.
Classification of the wines
The classification of the wines produced at Shumi are Tsinandali, Napareuli, Mukuzani, Khvanchkara, Kinzmarauli and Akhasheni. The grape varietals that are grown in the Shumi vineyards are Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Kisi, Cabernet Sauvignon, Kakhuri Mtsvane, Khikhvi, Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli. These grapes are used to produce a wonderful selection of red, white, rose, sparkling, dessert and fortified wines that should not be missed by any wine lover.
