Welcome to Bodegas Alutiz, a family-owned winery dedicated to crafting exceptional wines in the heart of Samaniego, Rioja Alavesa. Our roots trace back to the 17th century, and we pride ourselves on producing aromatic young wines through traditional carbonic maceration methods. Under the guidance of Pascual Berganzo, we honor our family's legacy while embracing modern techniques, including stainless steel tanks for precise temperature control in our white wines and Crianzas.

Quality Harvest from the Rioja Soil

Our vineyards, spanning 90 hectares, benefit from the unique geography of the region. Nestled between the Sierra de Cantabria and Sierra de Toloño, our location enjoys a temperate climate, ideal for cultivating Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Viura grapes. The calcareous clay soils, praised by soil expert Manuel Hernández, contribute to the vibrant flavors and colors of our wines. Join us for a vineyard tour to witness the ecological practices that nurture our grapes in this exceptional environment.

Traditional Winemaking with a Modern Touch

At Bodegas Alutiz, we continue the tradition of using stone presses for our young wines, with family members participating in the grape treading process. The Matarredo neighborhood, rich in history, features 85 openworks carved into rock over 200 years ago. Our Altiz route takes you from our historic cellars to our modern aging warehouse, where we craft our finest wines. Don't miss the chance to see our unique underground cave, located 12 meters below ground, where our winemaking magic happens.

Impressive family winery...it consists of three wineries, each one belongs to a generation and tells a beautiful story about each winery, the wines are very tasty!! A highly recommended visit and an enchanting place. Together with your house we chose a beautiful place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Thank you for taking care of every detail.

This is an amazing winery that suffers from their lack of size. Paula, a third generation winemaker, is the epitome of a person who shows passion for what she does. This family uses winemaking techniques that are used by less than 1% of the winemaking industry. If you visit, she will show you how they take the grapes through a slow and painstaking process that produces unique and lasting flavors that have stood the test of time. Don't waste your time with the corporate conglomerates of Haro, come get the real La Rioja experience here. Go into the subterranean caves where wine was made in the old days. Sit in a room where you are surrounded with the exclusive barrels produced by a passion for the fruit of the vine, not massive warehouses worked by forklifts. Trust me, it is worth the visit to Rioja Alavesa to get these undervalued quality wines from a family that knows what they are doing!

We were 18 friends and enjoyed visiting the vineyards and wineries of this family business. The experience was excellent: the small but very visitable winery, the wine tasting they offered us in the outdoor pergola was very pleasant, and the wines, which are what counts at the end, were very, very worthy. In addition, we stayed in their rural house, which was perfectly furnished, comfortable, and very beautiful. A very good experience getting to know this corner of Spain where wine is an essential part of people's lives.

I used to collect wines and I especially liked good wines at a phenomenal price point. Altuiz Bodegas blew me away!! Eduardo’s knowledge of wine making is only surpassed by his humanity. He was completely honest about his vintages which cost a fraction on the bottles you will purchase on the “beaten path” - do yourself a favor and visit this bodega and taste - and then thank Eduardo for the pleasure!!
