Bodegas Calvente Winery is located in the picturesque Sierra del Chaparral, perfectly positioned between the Mediterranean Coast and the Sierra Nevada mountains. This high-altitude setting creates a unique continental microclimate influenced by the nearby sea, ideal for grape growing. The vineyards thrive in clay-limestone soil on steep slopes, resulting in low yields that enhance the quality of the wines.

Some of the vineyards at Bodegas Calvente are between 20 and 90 years old, contributing to the complexity and richness of the wines.

Grapes cultivated at the winery include Moscatel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, among others.

For over 20 years, Bodegas Calvente has been dedicated to crafting exceptional wines. The owner practices sustainable viticulture, cultivating a diverse range of grape varieties, including premium Moscatel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, along with fruity Merlot, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, and Chardonnay. The age of the grapevines, ranging from 20 to 90 years, adds depth to the wines. Bodegas Calvente produces high-quality red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines, all under the Granada DO designation. Each winemaking phase, from harvesting to pressing, is performed manually, ensuring that only the finest grapes are selected for production. The winery blends traditional techniques with modern innovations in its cellar.

Low Yields for Superior Quality

Situated on the southern slope of the Sierra de Almijara, Bodegas Calvente benefits from an ideal microclimate and terroir for premium wine production. The vineyard density is 2,900 vines per hectare, focusing on Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Merlot. The winery maintains low yields of 5,000 kg per hectare through traditional farming practices, which enhances the quality of the grapes and ultimately the wines.
