Family Legacy of Bodegas Menade

Bodegas Menade, established in 2005, is rooted in a rich family tradition that dates back to 1820. The current owners, Alejandra, Marco, and Richard, represent the sixth generation dedicated to winemaking. Their ancestors cultivated vineyards in what is now the DO Rueda region, producing wines in the historic ‘Menade by Secala’ cellar, carved from rock in the early 19th century. This remarkable cellar has been enhanced over the years, providing an ideal environment for barrels, vats, and treasured bottles. Each generation has contributed to the winery's legacy, focusing on crafting quality wines while maintaining a family-oriented approach.

Commitment to Nature

At Bodegas Menade, the team prioritizes sustainable practices by replacing chemical treatments with natural methods. Instead of using insecticides, they attract beneficial insects to control pests, creating a balanced ecosystem in the vineyards. These insects are lured with aromatic extracts and provided with ‘hotels’—pollination gardens filled with aromatic plants. Additionally, mobile shrubs and trees enhance biodiversity, enriching the vineyard's environment. These eco-friendly practices not only improve the quality of the wines but also ensure they are produced with care for the planet. Bodegas Menade goes beyond traditional eco-labels, embracing a truly natural approach to winemaking.

Very nice surprise visiting these wine cellars, I was able to taste an ecological white wine that had nothing to envy to a good Riesling or a good Sauterne. In addition we had the chance to be welcomed by Ivan, who was super nice and who moreover, speaks perfect French! I recommend! 👌

Wonderful experience. From the architecture of the building to the quality of the wines, everything is top of the line. Ivan and his family’s passion for wine is evident. A must visit. Ivan also was able to give us a full tasting in English which was a major bonus!

A visit to Bodegas Menade is an obligatory stop when visiting Valladolid. Thanks to Iván's exciting explanations, the magic of the place spreads quickly, making you enjoy the experience even more. Endearing history, love and care in production, exquisite product and wonderful surroundings. We enjoyed wines, we learned what quality is and we had a great time with Iván. Do not hesitate to visit it. I'm sure we will return.

A visit not to be forgotten. Iván is incredible in how well he explains everything. It is nice to hear him speak because you can see that he lives it. You can see the interest in making sure that everything is done right in the winery and that is how the wine that comes out of it is also created. Very good, both the whites and the reds. Look closely at the labels, they are a spectacle.

On a tour of ten people, we loved the experience and the explanations. Then the food was great. We also visited the winery in town, we were impressed by the cellar.

🍇 Bodegas Ménade, a pioneer in natural and organic winemaking since 1820. The underground winery is impressive, and the unique characteristics of the Verdeja bring still wines to life, aged in demijohns. It was a joy to listen to the passion of Iván, who accompanied us on this visit.
