A 6th Generation Family Committed to Quality Wines
Family Legacy of Bodegas Menade
Bodegas Menade, established in 2005, is rooted in a rich family tradition that dates back to 1820. The current owners, Alejandra, Marco, and Richard, represent the sixth generation dedicated to winemaking. Their ancestors cultivated vineyards in what is now the DO Rueda region, producing wines in the historic ‘Menade by Secala’ cellar, carved from rock in the early 19th century. This remarkable cellar has been enhanced over the years, providing an ideal environment for barrels, vats, and treasured bottles. Each generation has contributed to the winery's legacy, focusing on crafting quality wines while maintaining a family-oriented approach.
Commitment to Nature
At Bodegas Menade, the team prioritizes sustainable practices by replacing chemical treatments with natural methods. Instead of using insecticides, they attract beneficial insects to control pests, creating a balanced ecosystem in the vineyards. These insects are lured with aromatic extracts and provided with ‘hotels’—pollination gardens filled with aromatic plants. Additionally, mobile shrubs and trees enhance biodiversity, enriching the vineyard's environment. These eco-friendly practices not only improve the quality of the wines but also ensure they are produced with care for the planet. Bodegas Menade goes beyond traditional eco-labels, embracing a truly natural approach to winemaking.
