Experience the Essence of Mendoza's Wine Heritage
A Winemaker's Story
Located at the foothills of the majestic Andes in the Uco Valley, CaliVista Winery is a testament to the passion of its founder, Dave Kalainoff. Growing up on a small farm in Iowa, Dave always had a deep connection to agriculture and a love for wine. His dream was to return to his roots and create wines that reflect the beauty of nature.
Where Vines Flourish
As Dave often shares, “This is one of the few places on earth where you can cultivate exceptional grapes while enjoying breathtaking views.” The combination of stunning landscapes, a dry climate, sunny days, and cool nights creates an ideal environment for organic wine production. CaliVista spans 70 acres near Tunuyán, Mendoza, at an altitude of over 3,500 feet. The rocky soils ensure excellent drainage, allowing the vines to thrive. Originally a peach farm, the land was transformed into a vineyard in 2006, utilizing a drip irrigation system that encourages deep root growth and rich flavors.
The Perfect Climate for Quality Grapes
The Valle de Uco boasts a climate that is perfect for grape cultivation. The significant temperature fluctuations between day and night—often reaching up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit—enhance the flavor profiles of the grapes. This unique climate allows CaliVista to produce wines that truly represent the essence of Argentina, offering wine lovers a taste of the region's rich heritage.
