Experience a Century of Winemaking Excellence in Emilia-Romagna
Cantina Rota: A Family Legacy in Winemaking
Located in Castellazo of Reggio Emilia, Cantina Rota is a cherished family winery with roots dating back to the 1920s. Founded by Roberta Rota after World War I, the winery has been nurtured by generations of the Rota family, with Dario, the founder's grandson, currently at the helm. As one of the few remaining family-owned wineries in the region, Cantina Rota has a rich history and a commitment to quality. In the 1950s, Dario's father, Benso Rota, transformed an old winery into the heart of Cantina Rota, which now spans approximately 40 hectares of prime vineyard land in Castellazo and the surrounding hills. The winery takes pride in managing every aspect of winemaking, from grape cultivation to bottling, ensuring exceptional quality in every bottle.
Lambrusco: The Signature Sparkling Wine
Cantina Rota specializes in Lambrusco and Ancellota grapes, producing a delightful range of red, white, and rosé wines. Their standout offering is the traditional Lambrusco Reggiano IGP, a sparkling red wine that embodies the region's winemaking heritage. With a focus on quality and authenticity, each wine reflects the unique terroir of Emilia-Romagna.
A Commitment to Sustainability
At Cantina Rota, sustainability is a core value. The winery operates on renewable energy, utilizing a solar panel system and a state-of-the-art biomass heating system for both the winery and their nearby Agritourism accommodations. Whether you visit for a day or stay longer, you can enjoy their exceptional wines while appreciating their dedication to environmentally friendly practices.
