Russo – Winery located right at the foot of the Largest Active Volcano in Europe
Projected with the beautiful scenic views, Cantine Russo lies in the region of Etna DOC. Cantine Russo is located right at the foot of the largest active volcano in Europe, on the northeast side of Etna. The clayey soil present over there gets mixed up with volcanic soil and thus becomes more favorable for viticulture.
The Oldest and Most Beautiful Wineries
Cantine Russo’s family-run winery started in 1860 by Grandfather Francesco Russo. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful wineries of the 17thcentury. Surrounded by the extensive vineyards, the production of the wines has one motive to serve the best. In 1955, a small cellar was created by Francesco and Vincenzo (father), who decided to bottle the wine produced by the family vineyards. The first wine produced in 1956 was named Solicchiata, and in 1968, new wines were produced under Etan DOC labels.
Today, wines are made under the label Cantine Russo.
