Baglio Passofondo
Organic Wines & Sicilian Hospitality in the Heart of Val di Noto
At Baglio Passofondo, we believe wine is more than just a product — it’s a reflection of place, history, and the people who tend the land. Our estate lies in the sun-drenched countryside of southeastern Sicily, just a few kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage town of Noto. Surrounded by olive groves, almond trees, and Mediterranean scrubland, the baglio — a traditional fortified farmhouse dating back to the 19th century — has been carefully restored to preserve its rustic charm while offering a warm and welcoming setting for visitors.
Our vineyards are cultivated organically, without the use of synthetic chemicals, respecting the rhythms of nature and the heritage of the Val di Noto. We focus on indigenous Sicilian varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Frappato, and Grillo, which thrive in our clay-limestone soils and warm, breezy climate. In the cellar, we adopt a minimal-intervention approach to allow the true character of the fruit and terroir to shine through, resulting in wines that are vibrant, elegant, and expressive.
But Baglio Passofondo is more than just a winery — it’s a place to slow down and reconnect with nature, culture, and community. Guests are welcome to stay with us in our country house accommodations, where they can enjoy peaceful views, home-cooked Sicilian meals, and a variety of curated experiences: from wine tastings and vineyard walks to cooking classes and seasonal harvest events.
Whether you're a wine lover, a curious traveler, or simply looking to experience the soul of Sicily, Baglio Passofondo offers a genuine and unforgettable journey through land, flavor, and tradition.
