At the foot of the Apennines
The Castello Montesasso winery and estate is a small farm located in the village of Montesasso, 2 kilometres outside the town of Mercato Saraceno. The winery is situated on the eastern slopes of the Savio valley at the crossing of the Savio River. The altitude of the Castello Montesasso vineyards is 380 meters above sea level, making the climate pre-Apennine thanks to the Fumaiolo and Aquilone mountain ranges.
Castello Montesasso: organic certificated
The vineyards of the winery are situated upstream on the Savio River where the land is rocky and mountainous. Castello Montesasso is situated in the production area of Romagna Sangiovese DOC, which is a large viticulture sub area. The wines produced at Castello Montesasso are made using only biologically cultivated grapes that come from the vineyard itself. The small production levels allow for big efforts, which result in the highest quality wines. The wine makers at Castello Montesasso state that their wines are born from knowledge of the soil, dedication and care for the grapes, the selection of only the best grapes, and an oenological approach that identifies with the terroir.
