Chateau Buera: An Overview

Chateau Buera is nestled among the picturesque vineyards of Kakheti, offering stunning views of the Caucasus Mountains. This winery is a highlight of the Lopota Lake resort and spa, thanks to the vision of Goga Maisuradze. Goga transformed a barren landscape into a thriving hotel and winery, significantly boosting tourism in the Kakheti region. His dedication to Georgian viticulture has allowed the unique terroir of Kakheti to shine through in the wines produced here.

The Vineyards of Chateau Buera

The vineyards at Chateau Buera benefit from a prime location near Lopota Lake, where cool breezes keep the air fresh. The estate cultivates a diverse range of grapes, including traditional Georgian varieties like Kisi, Mtsvane, Rkatsiteli, and Saperavi, alongside popular French grapes such as Cabernet, Chardonnay, and Merlot. A notable addition is the indigenous Buera grape, which lends its name to the winery. Committed to sustainability, Chateau Buera employs organic farming practices to nurture the land and produce high-quality grapes, ensuring the health of both the vines and wine enthusiasts.

Access is quite complicated if you're not staying there. I was able to taste their wines at the castle and can confirm that they are of very high quality. However, it costs three times as much as a regular tasting in Georgia. I understand we're in a luxurious location, but this is a bit much (€40). Otherwise, the place is very quiet, clean, and a lovely place to relax.

This place is incredible. Such a warm vibe, delicious food, and really attentive service. Everyone there did everything to make our visit so special in the daytime that we came back at nighttime :) and even the pianist played songs of choice and was really talented. All the food and wines were delicious, some of the best khachapuri I've ever had and learning all about the delicious khercho that I will dream about. Special shout out to Guga, who did everything to make our time there extra special. Love this place! Can't believe there are any bad reviews!

Four stars because the wine, the service and the look of the place were all very very good. Our server Anastasia was great to us all night, shame she left early so we couldn't tip her personally. We sat outside and they let me bring my dog which is always nice as pet owner. The food wasn't bad or anything but nothing blew me away, it was extremely average. Also there were no seafood options so half the menu was unavailable from the get-go.

One of the best experiences I’ve ever been in! The restaurant has such a high end, high quality menu that would make your tastebuds pop! Pair it with their in-house wines and you will never have a better meal 🍽️ We went in December which gave such a cozy atmosphere and I’m sure the Cheateau will be even more extravagant in the warmer months. Can’t wait to visit again! 🌟
