Exceptional Loire Valley Wines from Piegue Castle
The Winery’s Castle of Dreams
At the heart of Chateau Piegue lies the historic Piegue Castle, built in 1840 by Colonel Moron, a Florentine and confidant of Napoleon I. After retiring, Colonel Moron enhanced the castle with a stunning east wing, complete with a tower, terraces, and beautiful gardens. In 1920, the Van Der Hecht family acquired the castle, which had just 7 hectares of unproductive vines. With dedication and care, they rejuvenated the vineyard, achieving their first successful harvest in September 1921, producing esteemed Loire wines. Over the years, they expanded the vineyard, and today, Chateau Piegue boasts 35 hectares of flourishing vines.
