The Origin of a Legend

In 1883, Melchor Concha y Toro, a notable Chilean lawyer and businessman, established Viña Concha y Toro in the picturesque Pirque area. He imported French vines from Bordeaux and invested in modern machinery, transforming a family venture into a significant player in Chile's wine industry. By 1933, the winery began exporting its wines to the Netherlands. A captivating legend surrounds the winery: to protect his finest wines stored in the Casillero, Melchor spread tales that a devil resided within its walls, deterring would-be thieves.

Recognized as a Leading Wine Brand

Concha y Toro has earned accolades as one of the world's most admired wine brands, ranking first in Drinks International's annual report from 2011 to 2013. The winery's flagship wine, Don Melchor Cosecha 2010, was recognized as one of the top ten wines globally by Wine Spectator, showcasing the quality and prestige of Chilean wines.

Unique Vineyards with Distinct Microclimates

The winery's vineyards are characterized by diverse microclimates, each contributing to the unique aromas and flavors of the wines. With six distinct plots, the terroir ranges from warm temperate to coastal Mediterranean climates, allowing for a rich expression of the land in every glass. This careful attention to the environment ensures that each wine reflects the essence of its origin.

amazing place with a lot of information and culture about Chilean wine. The environment is beautiful, clean, organized and they have an amazing structure for visitants to have a 10/10 experience. I recommend to buy the cheese + wine tour, this way you can learn how to harmonize wine with different types of cheese.

In December, we had the opportunity to take a guided tour of Viña Concha y Toro in Santiago, Chile, and the experience was simply wonderful. We opted for the guided tour with tasting of 7 labels and pairing, and every moment was unforgettable. The tour began with a walk through a beautiful garden, where we were accompanied by a very attentive guide. He not only told us the entire history of the place, but also shared his experiences of living in Santiago, which enriched the visit even more. One of the most memorable moments was learning about the history of Casillero Del Diablo. The legend behind this famous wine added a special touch to the tour. The highlight, without a doubt, was the tasting of the labels. The pairing with cheeses was a true journey through different flavors, providing a unique sensory experience. Our family loved every detail. At the end of the tour, we had the opportunity to visit the store and purchase some of the labels we tasted, which was a great complement to the experience. We highly recommend this visit. If you go to Santiago and like wine, be sure to take this tour. It's an unmissable experience!

This is one of the oldest vineyards in Chile, located in the far south of the city of Santiago. The entrance prices are affordable as they include a guided tour, a tasting of different wines and a complimentary glass. It is a historic and emblematic place that is worth visiting, whether as a couple, with family, with friends or alone. You will learn a lot about Chile's wine culture and tradition. Always remember to follow the rules and take care of the spaces.

I went with my partner in December 2024. The place is beautiful, very well-maintained. We took the Marqués Tour. The guide was a bit rushed at each stop, so there wasn't much time to appreciate the place. The tasting was good. One aspect that needed improvement was the inability to take other, better tours inside the winery, as only the two most basic tours are offered with transportation. We were left wanting to take a tour with a better variety of wines. We had planned to have lunch there, but the restaurant clearly wasn't up to par. While it has some room for improvement, it's a very nice experience not to be missed if you're visiting Santiago. I recommend it.
